About Menorca Lines

Menorca Lines is the fast-ferry brand of the Insotel Marine Group, the shipping arm of the Balearic Insotel Group. It began operating between Alcúdia on Mallorca and Ciutadella on Menorca in 2022 - as, in the operator's words, a "boutique offering" for passengers and vehicles on the shortest crossing between the two islands. With the new line, the group, which already runs Trasmapi between Ibiza and Formentera, aimed to be present across all four Balearic Islands. The company is certified to ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.

Ship

The backbone of the line is the Som Menorca: 71.75 metres long, 18.60 metres wide, with room for 400 passengers and 65 cars. On board there are air-conditioned indoor seats with screens, premium seats, outdoor seating and a sun deck, a self-service snack bar, free Wi-Fi, a lift, accessible toilets with a baby-changing table and a pet area. In the current feed, a second ship appears on some sailings; which ship operates your sailing is shown in the timetable line.

Route to Mallorca

Menorca Lines operates only Ciutadella-Alcúdia and back, with a crossing time of 75 minutes. The published timetable usually shows two departures a day in each direction, one in the morning or afternoon and one in the evening; the operator reserves the right to make operational changes without notice. It promotes day trips between the islands with its Day Pass. The departure port on Menorca is the outer harbour of Son Blanc near Ciutadella, and on Mallorca the Muelle Comercial in Alcúdia; current times are in the timetable.

Check-in, Vehicle and Pet

With a boarding pass already issued, you need to be at the port up to 30 minutes on foot and up to 60 minutes with a vehicle before departure; without a boarding pass, an hour or more than an hour beforehand. Free online check-in opens 15 days before departure; if you don't use it, boarding passes are sent automatically by email 48 hours beforehand. Cars, vans, motorbikes, scooters, caravans and motorhomes can be booked, and bicycles travel free of charge. Pets also travel free of charge: dogs on a harness and lead in the designated area, breeds classed as dangerous with a basket muzzle and licence proof, cats in a carrier kept separate from the dogs. A microchip, rabies vaccination from three months of age and a pet passport with owner details are required. Without a vehicle you can bring up to 20 kilos of luggage. More in the guides Taking your car to Mallorca, Motorhomes on the ferry and Taking your dog on the ferry.

Tickets and Fares

Menorca Lines sells a Basic fare, which only allows date changes, and a Flexible fare, which also permits cancellations with restrictions. Changes are possible up to two working days before departure and only while boarding passes haven't yet been issued; cancellations are refunded on a sliding scale based on how close you are to the travel date, and no-shows without cancellation get nothing back. Passenger tickets remain valid for a year and can be used on a different date. The fares include port fees, handling and travel insurance; discounts apply only to passengers, not vehicles. The price overview shows the route comparison, and the amount is confirmed in the booking window.
