The only way to get to Mallorca with a motorhome is by ferry. From Barcelona, Valencia and Dénia, you sail to Palma; from Barcelona, Toulon and Sète, to Alcúdia. For a camper, three things matter most: the right dimensions in the booking, the right quay and plenty of time at the port.
Which operators carry motorhomes?
Baleària carries motorhomes and caravans and sails from Barcelona, Valencia and Dénia. GNV also carries motorhomes on Barcelona-Palma. Corsica Ferries takes campers from Toulon and Sète to Alcúdia, which saves you the drive down to Spain's east coast. The guide Ferry from France to Mallorca compares which of the two ports suits you. Trasmed carries vehicles on all its crossings.
Whether your camper can be booked on a particular sailing shows in the booking as soon as you enter the vehicle type and dimensions.
Dimensions decide the fare
You book by vehicle type, length and height, including all add-ons: rear bike rack, roof box, tow bar and, for a car and caravan, the caravan itself. Measure your vehicle yourself rather than relying on the manufacturer's figures.
Vehicle and dimensions must match the booking at check-in. GNV checks the number plate and dimensions at the port and, if they differ, charges the fare difference plus a fee. Starting fares for each route are on the Prices page.
The right quay first, then everything else
In Barcelona and Valencia, the operators don't leave from the same berth. With a large vehicle, correcting your route in port traffic takes time you won't have before the check-in deadline.
- Barcelona: for Baleària sailings to Palma, vehicles enter at the Muelle Adosado, while foot passengers check in at Terminal Norte by the World Trade Center. GNV leaves from the Moll de Sant Bertran.
- Valencia: Baleària leaves from the Estació Marítima on the Moll de la Túria, Trasmed from the Muelle de Poniente.
Always go by the berth shown on your ticket and in the operator's departure notice.
Check-in: the deadline depends on the operator
With a vehicle, the deadlines are longer than on foot:
| Operator | At the port with a vehicle |
|---|---|
| Baleària | at least 90 minutes before departure, after which no boarding |
| GNV | at least two hours before departure |
| Trasmed | check-in closes 60 minutes before departure |
| Corsica Ferries | Toulon two hours, Sète 90 minutes |
If you're still comparing operators, plan around the longest deadline. With GNV, only the driver boards with the vehicle, and everyone else boards on foot. Trasmed usually works the same way.
Gas on board
If your motorhome runs on LPG, declare it to GNV at check-in. Each operator sets its own rules on how gas bottles for cooking and heating must be secured during the crossing.
The vehicle deck is closed
You can't get to your motorhome at any point during the crossing. Luggage can stay in the vehicle, but on overnight sailings such as from Barcelona or Toulon, that's many hours without access. Take everything you need on board upstairs with you beforehand: ID, medication, chargers and clothes for the night.
Your dog doesn't stay in the motorhome during the crossing. Book the pet place together with your ticket; the rules for each operator are in the guide Taking your dog on the ferry.
Continuing to Ibiza with a motorhome
Ibiza limits the number of vehicles on the island in summer. In 2026 this applied from 1 June to 30 September. During that period, motorhomes and caravans needed to register, pay a fee and have a pitch booked at a campsite. The rule affects you if you take the Palma-Ibiza ferry with your camper in summer.
Palma or Alcúdia?
Choose your arrival port based on your campsite or motorhome pitch. Palma in the south suits the capital and the south-west, while Alcúdia in the north shortens the onward drive to the Bay of Alcúdia, Pollença and the north-east. The timetable shows the sailings for both ports. The guide Taking a car to Mallorca explains what applies to every vehicle on the ferry.

Motorhome on the ferry FAQ
The most common questions about the crossing with a camper.
Do the Mallorca ferries carry motorhomes? +
Yes. Baleària carries motorhomes and caravans, GNV carries motorhomes on Barcelona-Palma, and Corsica Ferries carries campers from France. Trasmed carries vehicles on all its crossings. The booking shows whether your camper can be booked on a sailing, and the timetable shows the sailings.
How early do I need to be at the port with a motorhome? +
With Baleària, at least 90 minutes before departure, after which the vehicle won't be taken on board. GNV requires two hours, and with Trasmed check-in closes 60 minutes before. Corsica Ferries recommends two hours in Toulon and 90 minutes in Sète.
Where do I check in in Barcelona and Valencia? +
That depends on the operator. In Barcelona, vehicles for Baleària to Palma enter at the Muelle Adosado, and GNV leaves from the Moll de Sant Bertran. In Valencia, Baleària leaves from the Estació Marítima on the Moll de la Túria, Trasmed from the Muelle de Poniente. Always go by the berth shown on your ticket.
How much is the ferry with a motorhome? +
The fare depends on the vehicle type, length and height, plus the route, travel day and cabin. Starting fares for each route are on the Prices page, and the booking shows the price for your camper. If the dimensions differ at check-in, GNV charges the fare difference plus a fee.
Can I go to my motorhome during the crossing? +
No. The vehicle deck stays closed during the crossing, including on overnight sailings. Luggage can stay in the vehicle, but you can't get to it on the way. Take ID, medication, chargers and everything for the night upstairs with you beforehand.
What are the rules for gas in a motorhome? +
If your motorhome runs on LPG, declare it to GNV at check-in. Each operator sets its own rules on how gas bottles for cooking and heating must be secured during the crossing.
Can my dog stay in the motorhome? +
Don't plan on it. The vehicle deck is closed during the journey, and Trasmed explicitly doesn't allow animals to stay in vehicles. Book the pet place together with your ticket. Documents and on-board rules for each operator are under Taking your dog on the ferry.
Can I continue to Ibiza with my motorhome? +
Yes, but Ibiza limits the number of vehicles on the island in summer. In 2026 this applied from 1 June to 30 September: motorhomes and caravans needed to register, pay a fee and have a campsite booked. This affects you if you take the Palma-Ibiza ferry in summer.
