Ferry Prices to Mallorca

What determines the ferry price, which discounts the operators offer, and what a change of plan costs

  • Route, date, number of travellers, vehicle and onboard accommodation determine the price
  • Discounts for children, large families and Balearic residents
  • Changes and refunds depend on the fare, not the route

What makes up the price

What makes up the price

There's no fixed ticket price for the crossing to Mallorca. Trasmed states in its terms of sale that the price shown on screen at the moment of booking applies, and that onboard extras may differ from their online price. What ends up on the bill comes down to five factors.

The route is the anchor. From Dénia and between the islands, the crossing takes just a few hours; from Barcelona, Valencia, Toulon and Sète, it often falls overnight. An operator prices an overnight sailing differently from a short daytime crossing.

The vehicle is the second item. Cars, motorbikes, motorhomes and trailers are charged separately from the passenger ticket, with type and dimensions determining the class.

The travellers are the third. Pricing is by age group, and the cut-offs differ by operator. Menorca Lines, for example, counts adults from 14 to 59, children from 2 to 13, seniors over 59 and infants up to one year.

Onboard accommodation is the fourth. On an overnight sailing, the gap between a seat and a cabin is bigger than the gap between two travel dates.

The fare is the fifth. It changes nothing about the crossing itself, only what you can still change or refund afterwards.

What operators publish as starting prices

Only Corsica Ferries publishes a public starting price for the Balearic routes. On the routes from mainland Spain and between the islands, the amount only takes shape once date, travellers and vehicle are entered.

Route Operator Published starting price
Toulon - Alcúdia, Sète - Alcúdia Corsica Ferries from €90 for 2 people and 1 car, one way, taxes included
Balearic routes, operator's sample calculation Corsica Ferries from €42 per person, one way, taxes included; based on 2 adults, 1 child under 12 and a car up to 5.00 m long, 1.90 m high, 2.00 m wide
Barcelona, Valencia and Dénia to Palma and Alcúdia Baleària, GNV, Trasmed no published fixed fare
Alcúdia - Ciutadella and the island routes Baleària, Trasmed, Menorca Lines no published fixed fare

As of August 2026. Both Corsica Ferries figures are starting fares for the cheapest date in the standard fare, not average prices. All details are provided without guarantee; the price shown in the booking window is binding.

The vehicle: dimensions determine the class

Booking is by length and height, including any roof box, bike rack, awning and tow hitch. Baleària asks for vehicle type, make, model, length and height. Trasmed states that the vehicle and its dimensions must match the booking: if the car falls into a higher fare class, the difference must be paid, and the operator may ask to see the vehicle documents. On the Menorca route, Menorca Lines prices by car, car with trailer, van, motorbike over 125cc, scooter, bicycle, caravan and motorhome.

Trasmed carries bicycles, surfboards and kayaks free of charge; they travel lashed down in the garage. A boat counts as one length together with its towing vehicle, including the drawbar.

The full checklists are in Taking your car to Mallorca and the motorhome guide.

Discounts and who gets them

As of August 2026.

Balearic residency. Trasmed offers 75% off on all direct routes, and 89% for Formentera and the Ibiza-Formentera route. The discount applies only to accommodation; vehicle, pet, meals and insurance are excluded. It's proven with an ID number at purchase or a residency certificate at the desk.

Large families. With a recognised Spanish Familia Numerosa title, Trasmed offers 20% off in the general category and 50% in the special category, again only on accommodation. Where several state-administered discounts overlap, a maximum of 85% is possible, or up to 100% between the islands.

Children. Corsica Ferries gives 50% off on all ships for children aged four to twelve, and children under four travel free.

The Spanish residency and family titles aren't available to travellers from abroad. Still enter the age and number of fellow travellers in full, otherwise the system charges the full fare.

Rebooking and refunds

The difference between the cheapest and the most expensive fare is rarely the crossing itself - it's usually this rule.

Corsica Ferries sells two fares. The Standard fare is always available and changeable, but costs a €30 change fee and isn't refunded in full or in part. The Flex fare is changeable and refundable, calculated on the ticket price excluding taxes: 90% up to one month before departure, 80% from one month to seven days before, 50% from seven days to 48 hours before. Within the last 48 hours before departure, nothing is refunded.

Trasmed lets you choose between three flexibility tiers at purchase: no flexibility, medium flexibility and Flexibilidad Plus. Changes are possible up to two hours before departure, and an accommodation upgrade at any time. Only the Plus tier can be refunded: in full minus the issuing fee from three days before travel, with a 10% deduction up to two days before, 20% one day before, and not at all on the day of travel itself. After check-in, neither changes nor refunds are possible.

Trasmed also sells open-return tickets, valid for a year from the outbound date. If that becomes a fixed date, no penalty fee applies for a refund.

Where you can save

Book early and commit. The cheapest quotas and matching cabin classes go first, and on the France routes, the limited dates too.

Shift your travel day. The biggest lever you control yourself is the gap between a weekend sailing in peak summer and the same crossing on a weekday in May.

Check whether you need the car. The vehicle space is charged on both legs. For a stay in one place, a hire car on the island can work out cheaper.

Measure your vehicle yourself. A few centimetres can tip you into the next class, and an incorrect figure gets charged extra at the terminal.

Weigh the cabin against a hotel night. On the overnight sailings from Barcelona, Valencia, Toulon and Sète, it replaces a night's accommodation and a travel day.

Compare the same night across several operators. Several operators run to Palma side by side, and their fares move independently of each other.

Which sailings run on your travel day is shown in the timetable. The binding total price is only given at the booking step, once date, travellers and vehicle are set.

FAQ Mallorca Prices

Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently asked questions about fares, discounts and what ends up on the bill.

What does the ferry to Mallorca cost?+

There's no fixed price. It's made up of route, date, number of travellers, vehicle, onboard accommodation and fare. On the overnight sailings from Barcelona, Valencia and France, the cabin is the biggest single item. The exact amount for your connection is given at the booking step.

Why does the price at booking differ from the advertised starting price?+

A starting price is the cheapest combination a route sells at all: low season, an inconvenient sailing, a seat, no vehicle. As soon as the date, number of travellers or vehicle changes, the fare moves. Departures for your travel day are shown in the timetable.

How is the price calculated for a car or motorhome?+

By vehicle class, which depends on length and height including any roof box, bike rack and tow hitch. If the dimensions don't match the booking, the difference is charged afterwards. Details in Taking your car to Mallorca and Motorhomes on the ferry.

Are there discounts for children and families?+

Yes. Corsica Ferries gives 50% off on all ships for children aged four to twelve, and under-fours travel free. Trasmed offers 20% or 50% off accommodation for officially recognised large families. Enter the age and number of travellers in full, otherwise the system charges the full fare.

Can I rebook or refund a ticket?+

That depends on the operator and fare. Corsica Ferries' Standard fare can be changed for a €30 fee but isn't refundable; the Flex fare offers a sliding refund up to 48 hours before departure. With Trasmed, only the Flexibilidad Plus tier can be refunded. Read the conditions before you buy.
