Arrival & Terminal
Baleària operates from the Botafoc port area in Ibiza, at the Estación Marítima on Muelle de Botafoc on the north side of the harbour bay - not the town harbour, from which the Formentera boats depart. The port has parking at the terminal; the desk is open around departure times. For a Trasmed sailing, take the pier from your ticket and departure notice rather than assuming the quay from an earlier trip.
Check-in & Departure
- Baleària: at least 90 minutes with a vehicle, at least 60 minutes on foot before departure; after that, boarding is no longer guaranteed.
- Trasmed: check-in closes 60 minutes with a vehicle and 30 minutes on foot before the scheduled departure. Every traveller, including babies and pets, needs their own boarding pass.
Keep photo ID and your boarding pass ready. Vehicle type, length and height must match your reservation with both operators.
On Board
The fast ferry Eleanor Roosevelt runs on natural gas and offers VIP and Superior seating, a lobby bar, an outdoor café with a chill-out area, Wi-Fi, digital entertainment and, for pets, the "Casitas de la Calma" or a pet-friendly seat; Baleària doesn't limit luggage. The conventional Kerry has cabins but fewer onboard facilities. The Trasmed Ciudad-class ships cover the route in around four hours; the booking step shows which accommodation they offer. So check not just the operator in the booking window, but the ship, departure time and seat or cabin category.
Vehicle, Bike & Pet
Cars, motorbikes and bicycles can be booked with both operators on the sailings that offer them; Trasmed carries bicycles free of charge. Measure your vehicle including any roof box or bike rack, as the car deck stays closed during the crossing. Pets need a pre-booked space. With Baleària, an animal up to eight kilos can travel in its carrier on the pet-friendly seat, larger animals in a pet cabin or Casita depending on the ship; a pet boarding pass and valid health documents are required. Arrival & Onward Travel
In Palma, Baleària docks at either the Estación Marítima 3 or the Dique del Oeste depending on the sailing; Trasmed's ferries dock at the Estaciones Marítimas on the Paraires and Poniente piers in the Portopí district. The destination quay is on your ticket - "Palma port" is too vague for a pickup or bus connection. Plan onward travel around the confirmed arrival time of your sailing.

Ibiza-Palma connects the port of Botafoc with Mallorca with no land route in between.
