Toulon and Sète to Alcúdia

Table of Contents

Corsica Ferries sails from southern France to Mallorca, from Toulon and from Sète. Both routes arrive in Alcúdia in the north of the island. If you're driving south through France in your own vehicle, this saves you the overland journey to Spain's east coast. In return, the sea crossing is longer and the service is seasonal: the ferries don't sail every day, and finding a suitable return crossing often decides the whole trip.

Toulon - Alcúdia

Toulon-Alcúdia is the France route with the most sailing dates. In season, Corsica Ferries sails on around two days a week; the crossing takes approx. 13½-20 hrs and usually runs overnight, arriving in the morning. The ship is the Mega Express.

The terminal is at 2 avenue de l'Infanterie de Marine in Toulon. Coming from Marseille, take the A50; from Nice, the A57. Corsica Ferries recommends being at the port at least two hours before departure.

Sète - Alcúdia

Sète-Alcúdia offers individual seasonal dates rather than a regular service. Corsica Ferries gives roughly one sailing a week as a guide, but the timetable may show only a few sailings over long periods. The crossing time depends on the sailing, so check it for your date in the timetable.

Ferries leave from the Gare Maritime Orsetti in Sète, near Montpellier. Corsica Ferries recommends being at the terminal at least 90 minutes before departure and makes no distinction between vehicle and foot passengers.

Toulon or Sète?

Toulon is the more reliable choice if your holiday dates are fixed: with around two sailings a week in season, you're more likely to find dates that work for both the outward and return crossing. Sète is worth it if one of its dates fits your trip exactly or you're travelling via Montpellier anyway. If none of the dates work, Barcelona-Palma and Barcelona-Alcúdia are the alternatives with daily sailings.

On board

For the overnight crossing, Corsica Ferries sells cabins at a flat price; alternatively there are seats in enclosed areas. On overnight crossings you vacate your cabin one hour before arrival. There are pet cabins for dogs; they are allowed on a lead in designated areas, and you should pack a muzzle. What you need for entry and how the other operators handle pets is covered in the guide Taking your dog on the ferry.

With a car or motorhome

From France you'll usually be travelling in your own vehicle, and the vehicle affects the price. Enter the vehicle type, length and height in your booking exactly as you'll be travelling. What to bear in mind on board and on arrival is explained in the guides Taking a car to Mallorca and Motorhome on the ferry.

Arriving in Alcúdia

Both routes berth at the Muelle Comercial at the northern end of Alcúdia harbour. According to Corsica Ferries, Palma is about 50 minutes away by car. You can also carry on to Menorca from the same quay: the Mallorca-Menorca connection to Ciutadella departs from Alcúdia.

Prices and booking

The price depends on the date, cabin and vehicle. The Prices page compares starting prices for the routes, and the booking shows the live price for your sailing. Because sailing dates are limited, it's best to book your outward and return crossings together.
